The larger share of important happenings in the Slovene economy took place at Thursday's parliamentary session. During the session parliament passed the supplemented budget bill for 2000, announced that it will cancel discussions with the Slovene-Austrian company Sava on the building of hydro electric plants, and passed a new programme of conformation of the leather footwear and textile industries to the EU standards. Parliament also assigned SIT 60 billion (euro 304 million) of state funds to authorised investment companies in its bid to fill in the privatisation gap. However, the event that attracted the most attention was the change in the leadership of the Slovene Development Corporation (SRD).
