NEK 25 Years After the Laying of the Foundation Stone

Krško, 28 December - The Krsko nuclear power plant (NEK) which is scheduled for a renewal that is to begin in April and that will witness majority of its upgrade project done in May, celebrates a major anniversary in December. Namely it was 25 years ago that the then President Tito laid down the foundation stone for the construction of the first nuclear power plant in what was then Yugoslavia. NEK is still the only nuclear power plant that exists in the countries that used to make up Yugoslavia. It's commercial life span of 40 years means that it will have to close in the year 2023.
