No Major Changes in Neighbourly Relations

Slovene relations with its neighbours are unlikely to change as we enter into the new century. This year has marked the signing of agreements on property issues and culture with Croatia. In Italy the protection bill for the Slovene minority was not passed, while the future of Slovene relations with Austria are still unclear, especially on the topic of Lipizzaners and Austrian demands on the closure of the nuclear plant in Krsko. According to Radio Slovenia, ambassadors from the above mentioned countries seem optimistic on the future of bilateral relations.
