Rupel Accepts Drnovsek's Invitation to Become Foreign Minister

Slovenia's Ambassador to the United States Dimitrij Rupel has decided to accept the invitation of Prime Minister Janez Drnovsek and run for the post of head of Slovene diplomacy after outgoing Foreign Minister Boris Frlec offered his resignation on Friday. Rupel, who was the first Slovene foreign minister in independent Slovenia from 1990 to 1993, said in a press release that he was aware of how difficult and demanding his new job would be.
