Unknown Perpetrators Steal Priceless Fire Place
Celje, 25 January - THEFT/FIREPLACE
Unkown perpetrators broke into an abandoned house in the city of Celje, central Slovenia, and stole a renessaince fireplace from the 17th century made from white marble and worth almost SIT 2 million (euro 10,000). The Celje police reported that the crime occured on Saturday between the afternoon and evening hours. The house, which is described as a crumbling mansion, is known to the Celje people as Lanous. The mansion has for numerous years stood abandoned and is falling apart, while the unkown perpetrators obviously knew that treasures were hidding inside.
