Community Army Service Increases in Popularity
Ljubljana, 2 February - ARMY/CIVIL/SERVICE
Slovenia is the only European country which offers the same time length, namely seven months for obligatory army service in its normal form and in its community service form (where the conscript performs community service tasks so as to avoid carrying arms). The admission of conscientious objections to obligatory service is allowed for those who do not wish to carry arms due to religious, philosophical and humanitarian reasons, and results in community army service.
