President Kucan Comments Developments in Austria

Commenting on the formation of a government coalition between the Austrian People's Party (OeVP) and the Freedom Party (FPOe), Slovene President Milan Kucan stressed that the rise of Joerg Haider's Freedom Party is just as dangerous for Slovenia as it is for Europe. In Kucan's view, the EU refuses FPOe's potential participation in a new government because it would not be in line with the foundations of a democratic future of the EU and the whole Europe.
