Rupel Speaks About Relations with Neighbours
Ljubljana, 2 February - FOREIGN/MINISTER/STATEMENT
Slovenia's new Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel urged for as good co-operation with Slovenia's neighbours as possible in a statement following the swearing-in ceremony in parliament. He was pleased with the vote, which in his view implies great trust, but thought that "we are faced with a difficult period". He said that the Foreign Ministry received today a request from the Austrian Foreign Ministry asking the Slovene side "to be more reserved". In the note the Austrian ministry also expressed a belief that the potential problems could be resolved, which is, in Rupel's view, a positive signal.
