Slovenia Should Reason Its Requests in Negotiations on Agriculture
Brussels, 3 February - European Commissioner for Agriculture Franz Fischler has neither rejected nor agreed to Slovenia's request to be integrated into the system of direct compensations to farmers from the EU budget upon entering the Union, Agriculture Minister Ciril Smrkolj said after his meeting with Fischler in Brussels on Thursday. Slovenia was advised to provide further economic reasons in favour of the request, expressed in its negotiating position for agriculture, and to justify the claim of its different position in this aspect in relation to other candidate countries, which expressed the same request in their negotiating positions.
