Eric David Newsom, an aide to the U.S. State Secretary Madeleine Albright in charge of political and military affairs, visited the main offices of the International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine victims in Bosnia (ITF) on Thursday. Newsom praised the activities done by the ITF, which is based in Ig near Ljubljana and managed by Slovenia. At the same time, he addressed the burning question of illegal trafficking of small and light arms in the Balkans. Also, Director of ITF Jernej Cimprsek predicted that the fund will expand its activities to Albania in March or April and to Macedonia a month later.
