Review of Events Involving Slovenia from 5 through 11 February
Ljubljana, 12 February - Slovenia has been closely following the developments in Austria after the formation of the coalition government which includes Joerg Haider's Freedom Party, while establishing first contacts with the newly elected Croatian President Stipe Mesic. On the internal political front the attention focused on the eye-to-eye meeting between President Milan Kucan and the former financial director of Elan, Pavel Koder, before the parliamentary commission investigating into suspected misuse of state authority in the privatisation of the ski factory. Koder denied the allegation that Kucan received presents from him when leading the Communist Party of Slovenia.
