1999 General Government Revenue Up 6.6 Percent In Real Terms

Ljubljana, 14 February - ECONOMIC/MIRROR/GOVERNMENT/REVENUE
Total general government revenue rose by 6.6 percent to SIT 1572.3 billion (DM 15.72 billion) in real terms in 1999 as compared to 1998. A significant contribution to this rise came from revenues from sales taxes on goods and services, value-added tax and excise duties, which were exceptional because of the change-over from one tax system to another (SIT 542.6 billion). Uncertainties and expectations before the introduction of value-added tax caused a rise in consumption and consequently higher revenue from sales taxes.
