Diocese of Maribor Still Claims Betnava Castle
Ljubljana, 15 February - After informing several international institutions about the delay in denationalisation of a piece of property that used to belong to the Church, the diocese of Maribor has said it did not give up the claim to get Betnava Castle back by signing the protocol about the settlement of property issues with the city of Maribor in 1986. This was stated on Monday in a public statement in a response to Slovene Culture Minister Jozef Skolc's statement that the diocese renounced its claim to get the mansion back in the protocol. The diocese added that the castle is not even mentioned in the protocol.
