Last Year's Trade Deficit Amounted to US$ 1.4 Billion

Ljubljana, 15 February - Slovenia exported US$ 8.546 billion and imported US$ 9.954 billion in goods in 1999, showed the preliminary figures from the National Statistical Office. Last years exports fell by 5.6 percent as compared to 1998, while imports fell by 1.5 percent. The 1999 trade deficit thus amounted to US$ 1.408 billion, which is US$ 348 million more than in 1998. Thus exports covered 85.8 percent of imports in 1999, or 3,8 percent less than in 1998.
