Hunters' Association and Minister Smrkolj on Bear Attack

Ljubljana, 25 February - BEAR/ATTACK
The hunters' association expressed, in its statement for the public on Friday, that it deeply regrets Thursday's bear attack that occurred in Kot at Ribnica, southern Slovenia, when a she-bear attacked a local and severely injured him in the process. The hunters' association is promising to do all in its power so as to assist, in co-operation with state bodies, the victim financially. The hunters' union added that Thursday's attack should not change the opinion of the citizens or experts who are in favour of preserving bears, since a bear is becoming an important part of Slovene natural heritage.
