Delo on the Situation in Kosovo

Ljubljana, 26 February - Northern Kosovo is an area of high tension. Ethnic cleansing, which is probably encouraged by Belgrade, is going on in the sight of everyone in Kosovska Mitrovica, where the majority of those 100,000 Serbs who did not flee Kosovo after the NATO air campaign still live. Peace-keeping troops seem to be powerless: if they do not intervene, they are accused of being pro-Serb by ethnic Albanians, if they do, they risk that the last of the Serbs leave the province. No wonder they have found themselves in a cross-fire, literally, as the situation suits perfectly the extremists on both sides, Delo writes in Saturday's issue.
