Will Shops Stop Sale by Cheque?

With the implementation of the new agreement between commercial banks, which should be put into force on 1 April 2000 if the supervisory council of the association of Slovene banks (ZBS) passes it, banks will no longer have to guarantee a pay out on cheques. The agreement has caused concern among shopkeepers, mainly those dealing with textile and technical products who sell 20 percent of their products with cheque payments, said secretary at the association for markets at the Slovene Chamber of Commerce, Joze Kovac.
