Voting on the Slovene minority protection bill will occur after the anticipated regional elections on 16 April in Italy. This comes about because the Italian parliament did not show enough political motivation to pass the legislation before. This was the headline news at the meeting between the leaders of the two Slovene umbrella organisations in Italy; leader of the council of Slovene organisations in Italy Sergij Pahor and leader of the Slovene cultural and economic association Rudi Pavsic with the Speaker of the Italian Parliament, Luciano Violante.
