Burgeat: OECD is an Open But Selective Organisation

Ljubljana, 3 March - Slovenia is one of the best qualified candidates for membership in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel stated at a round-table discussion in Ljubljana on Friday. Membership in the organisation is according to him a priority task of Slovenia's government and its foreign policy. Director of the OECD Centre for Co-operation with Non-Member States Eric Burgeat labelled the OECD "an open but selective organisation". He could not say, however, when the OECD will formally consider Slovenia's application to join, which was submitted in 1996.
