Change Needed in Slovene-Bosnian Trade Relations

Ljubljana, 9 March - Bosnia is one of Slovenia's most important trading partners. Exports to Bosnia amounted to US$ 363 million worth of goods in 1999, while imports were only US$ 55 million. Trade with Bosnia recorded the highest increase among Slovene trade with countries of the former Yugoslavia. Participants of a consultation named 'How to do Business with Bosnia', prepared by Slovene Chamber of Commerce concluded that the co-operation between the countries is good, but the structure of trade would need to change in the future. Companies will have to direct their efforts towards investments in Bosnia, but first an agreement on protection of investments between the countries will have to be signed.
