Retail Sales Up in 1999

The real increase of income from retail sales in 1999 amounted to 2.9 percent over 1998. This was states in the first abridged version of the retail income index, published by the National Statistical Office. The number of employed in this sector of the economy in 1999, however, dropped by 3.3 percent from 1998.
