Podobnik Addresses Letter to Drnovsek

Ljubljana, 16 March - SLS/MERGING
Leader of the Slovene People's Party (SLS) and Deputy Prime Minister Marjan Podobnik addressed a letter to the leader of the Liberal Democracy of Slovenia (LDS) and Prime Minister, Janez Drnvosek, in which he informed Drnovsek that the Chief Committee of the SLS passed a decision on 8 March concerning the merging process between the SLS and the Slovene Christian Democrats (SKD) into a new party. The decision includes the exit of the SLS ministers from the government, while a decision made at Wednesday's Chief SLS Committee forecasts the merger congress for 15 April. The coalition agreement between the SLS and LDS will cease to be valid as of that date because the new party, formed through the annexation of the SLS and SKD, will not be part of any coalition at the time of the merger. At this time all the SLS members will tender their resignations, stressed Podobnik in the letter.
