Slovene Coal Mine Museum Competes for the 'European Museum of the Year'

Velenje, 16 March - MUSEUM/COALMINE
The Slovene coal mine museum, set up in an abandoned part of the coal mine at Velenje, eastern Slovenia, has seen over 12,000 visitors since its opening last July. The museum is important for preserving technical cultural heritage and offers a visit to genuine mine pits 180 metres below ground to the disabled as well. The museum's leadership is convinced that they can successfully compete in this year's selection of the European museum of the year.
