The government passed a programme for the work of the company in charge of motorways in Slovenia (DARS) in 2000 and handed it over for parliamentary approval, at its regular session on Thursday. The financial resources for the implementation of the motorway programme amount to SIT 84.4 billion (euro 420 million) in 2000. From this SIT 29.6 billion (euro 148 million) comes from the special petrol tax, SIT 17.4 billion (euro 88 million) from motorway tolls and the remaining SIT 37.4 billion (euro 185 million) from domestic and foreign loans. This year will see the continuation of the construction of 119 kilometres of four-lane motorways and 21 kilometres of two-lane motorways, said Minister for Transport and Communication Anton Bergauer. From the total figure of 140 kilometres, 35 kilometres will be opened during the course of the year.
