Spela Pretnar Triumphs in 1999/2000 Slalom Season

Bormio, 19 March - SKIING/SLALOM/WORLD/CUP
Spela Pretnar put the icing on the cake of a brilliant women's skiing season for Slovenia. Pretnar won the overall World Cup slalom standings in the 1999/2000 season, following the final race in Bormio. She finished 9th in the last race of the season, but that was enough for the overall win, as her only challenger French Christel Saioni finished fifth and did not gain enough points to take the overall lead. Pretnar's overall win overshadowed the win of American Kristine Koznick in the final event. Koznick beat Sweden's Anja Pearson and Italian Elisabetta Biavasci.
