Ljubljana, 21 March - COMPUTERS/CRIME
Slovene criminal police conducted over 25 searches with persons suspected of computer piracy last year. So far the most extensive operation of the kind was accomplished in March 1999, when 23 searches were under way across Slovenia. Among 19 suspected charges were filed against 17 persons, while one perpetrator was condemned to prison. The police gathered an extensive incriminating evidence, including 22 PCs, most of which were equipped for CD recording, plus 1,419 compact discs and 899 floppy disks, Business Software Alliance officials told the press on Tuesday.
