450th Anniversary of the Birth of Jacobus Gallus

This year Slovenia will celebrate the 450th anniversary of the birth of composer Jacobus Gallus-Carniolus (1550-1591). Beside Palestrina and Orlando di Lasso, Gallus is considered one of the most important representatives of the Renaissance in music. The anniversary will be celebrated with a concert of Gallus' religious and secular music in the Franciscan church in Ljubljana on Saturday, where Germany's vocal sextet Singer Pur of Regensburg will perform some of Gallus's motets and madrigals.
