EU to Prepare Accession Plan this Year, Say Negotiators of Candidate Countries

Chief Slovene EU Negotiator Janez Potocnik attended the 10th meeting of the heads of negotiating groups from the six leading candidate countries, which started on Thursday. The officials on Friday adopted a joint statement at the end of the meeting, saying that the accession negotiations could close in 2001. They also expressed their expectation that the EU would prepare the accession plan by the end of the year.
