Steam Generators to be Changed During N-Plant Overhaul
Krško, 3 April - In mid-April the Krsko Nuclear Power Plant (NEK) will begin its regular annual overhaul which is expected to take 62 days due to the extensive work which has to be carried out. During this time, the old steam generators will be replaced by new ones which were transported to the plant last year, while a quarter of the fuel elements will also be changed and an inspection is to be carried out on the fuel. The nuclear power plant, which is currently in its 18th year of operations, must be renewed so that it may operate safely until 2023.
