Kucan: Slovene Voters Will Surely Back Slovenia's EU Membership

In an interview for Tuesday's edition of the German paper Berliner Zeitung, Slovene President Milan Kucan expressed that he expects Slovene voters to back Slovenia's entry into the EU in a referendum, likely to be held at the end of 2002. In addition, President Kucan expected that Slovenia and Croatia would resolve the outstanding issues successfully, but rejected the possibility that Slovenia might grant its German-speaking citizens a status of a minority.
