Marjan Podobnik Proposes a Meeting of Party Leaders
Ljubljana, 10 April - The outgoing deputy prime minister and the leader of the Slovene People's party (SLS), Marjan Podobnik, has urged the leader of the Social Democrats (SDS), Janez Jansa, to call a meeting of the heads of parliamentary parties, as the person currently in charge of their co-ordination. In his letter to Jansa, Podobnik proposed that the meeting would discuss the steps that need to be taken after Janez Drnovsek's government lost a vote of confidence last Saturday, and to establish the chances for a speedy adoption of a bill on parliamentary elections that would introduce a second-ballot plurality system, the SLS said on Monday.
