Slovenia has a hydroelectric potential of eight to nine billion kilowatt hours but only exploits 3.5 billion kwh of it. The construction of new hydroelectric power plants is on national interest, especially from the aspect of retaining the self-sufficiency of the country's power industry and its role in the European energy network, established power energy experts at a conference in Ljubljana on Wednesday.
