Last Year's Deficit Makes Slovenia Equal with other EU Candidates
Ljubljana, 20 April - Last year's current account deficit, which was recorded for the first time after the independence in 1991, put Slovenia on the same position as the rest of the EU candidate countries. The external balance was disrupted mainly by the increased import of cars in the second quarter of 1999 and the movements of oil prices on the world markets, economist Dr Joze Mencinger told the board members of the Slovene Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Thursday.
