Statistics Indicate an Improvement in Courts' Efficency

Court statistics for 1999 indicate positive trends and confirm findings for 1998, which showed an improvement in the performance of courts. The efficiency of judges is improving year by year, while the number of cases is increasing too, which is a special feature of the Slovene judiciary resulting from social and economic changes. Last year 553,320 new cases were submitted to courts and 585,695 cases were solved, while 565,352 remained unsolved, outgoing Minister of Justice Tomaz Marusic told the press on Tuesday.
