Alonso and Gross in Quarter Finals

Unseeded Spaniard Julian Alonso, who is ranked 123rd in the world and had beaten Spaniard Sergi Bruguera in the first round, advanced to the Renault Slovenian Open quarter-finals after he knocked out the eight seeded Spaniard Alex Lopez-Moron (111th) in Thursday's first centre court match. Alonso, a winner in three sets: 6:7, 6:3 and 6:0, said after the match that he was delighted with the win, but still cannot get over Barcelona's loss in the semi-finals of the Champion's League.
