First Attempt to Appoint Caretaker Government Fails Just Before Midnight
Ljubljana, 24 May - Parliament rejected the centre-right government proposed by Prime Minister Andrej Bajuk late on Tuesday evening. In a secret vote, MPs voted 45:45, one vote short of an outright majority. The government crisis which broke out on 8 April, when the Janez Drnovsek government lost the vote of confidence in Parliament, has thus not yet been resolved.
