Former TAM Premises to be Offered to Strategic Partner BMW

Ljubljana, 25 May - GOVERNMENT/BMW/TAM
Slovenia's outgoing government at its Thursday's session supported the proposal put forward by the Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Affairs to offer the premises for industrial production of the former vehicle producer TAM, one-time socialist giant that went bankrupt, to a strategic investor, German car producer BMW. The latter is searching for a location for the production of a new BMW line, which requires 1.5 million square metres of land provided with basic facilities such as electricity, water, telecommunications, etc. The investment is estimated at a billion German marks, while its implementation would create something between 6,000 to 7,000 new jobs in the final stage, and an additional 3,000 jobs through co-operations.
