Not Enough Opportunities for Slovene Banks in the Countries of Former Yugoslavia

Slovene banks have no particularly great opportunities to perform in the countries of former Yugoslavia, said governor of the Bank of Slovenia France Arhar at a panel that took place on Saturday within the assembly of the association of foreign exchange dealers. The largest Slovene bank, Nova ljubljanska banka, has scarce opportunities due to the unsolved issue of deposits in its predecessor, the former Ljubljanska banka, which had subsidiaries in these countries, whereas middle-sized and small banks have no adequate capital and lack necessary knowledge. In addition to that, small banks are orientated only towards the region, therefore they are completely ignorant of the environment outside the region.
