Review of the Slovene Economy from 20 Through 26 May

Ljubljana, 28 May - The outgoing government which is handling current issues decided that it will not leave up to chance the possible investment of German car-maker BMW into the location of former vehicle-manufacturer TAM in Maribor. For this purpose the government passed measures which would persuade the German's of the suitability of investment in Slovenia. The total costs of the preparations of the land would amount to around SIT 6.5 billion (31.8 million euros) while a similar amount is estimated to be needed for the subsidising of new work posts and for training of the labour force. Slovenia is also offering BMW an opportunity to establish an economic zone with suitable tax relief and free expert assistance from the side of the Slovene Development Corporation (SRD) in concern to the acquisition of the needed documents and permits.
