Croatian Government Not to State National Minorities in Preamble to Constitution

The Croatian government at its session on Tuesday adopted a proposal of the working group of the Croatian President Stipe Mesic not to individually state national minorities in Croatia, including the Slovene one, in the preamble to the Croatian Constitution. The decision was taken within the adoption of changes to the Constitution. Croatian Justice Minister Stjepan Ivanisevic explained after the session that the preamble to the Constitution does not belong to the normative part of the Constitution and does not influence it, therefore there is no need to change it or to state individual national minorities in the preamble.
