Record Temperatures Hit Slovenia in June
Ljubljana, 7 July - The year 2000 is also making history weather-wise. Records on air temperature in Ljubljana kept since 1851 indicate that following the hottest April and the hottest spring, June 2000 has also been the hottest June ever, it was reported from the Slovene Hydro-Meteorogical Centre. Not only did June break the temperature record, it also set a record for the number of hours of sunshine. Precipitation in June was also well below average, as could be expected, something that has caused the severe drought which has hit Slovenia. Furthermore, meteorologists in Slovenia are not predicting rain, apart from occasion regional storms, for quite some time thus opening the possibility for more records.
