Voting Legislation: Changed Proportional Representation to Be Set Down in Constitution?
Ljubljana, 13 July - The parliamentary commission for the electoral system and constitutional amendments will propose to Parliament on Thursday evening that it should support the onset of the procedure to change Article 80 of the Constitution, thus writing down the bases of the improved proportional representation in the Constitution, as was proposed by a group of 28 MPs. Specific changes to the Constitution will be drafted by the commission, which will take into account several positions on the issue. Once the Constitution is changed, a bill on the general elections based on improved proportional representation will be drafted as well. The parliament will be deciding on the proposal as early as Thursday evening.
