Petrol Operates with Profit in the First Half of the Year

Ljubljana, 15 July - The Slovene oil company Petrol made net incomes of SIT 112 billion (543 million euros) in the first six months of 2000, while its net profits totalled SIT 100 million (485,000 euros), according to unaudited data. Due to high disproportion between the purchase and selling prices of petrol, which was the main reason for the loses of SIT 965 million (4.7 million euros) in the first quarter of the year, the company announced even heavier losses in the first half of the year, if the government policy of setting the petrol prices did not change. Preliminary data, however, have shown positive results of the model for forming the prices of petrol introduced in April.
