Beginning of Talks does not Mean Agreement to Negotiate, Says Peterle
Ljubljana, 1 September - The focus of Friday's press conference held by Foreign Minister Lojze Peterle included relations with Austria in regard to the AVNOJ decisions and the issue of denationalisation. Peterle stressed that the decision to begin talks on the issue on an expert level does not mean that Slovenia has agreed to negotiate, but that the current government is willing to explain and clear up matters, which is in line with the decision of the previous government. Peterle expressed regret that the Slovene foreign policy is once again an issue of pre-election battles and that President Milan Kucan is also taking part in this.
