What Are the AVNOJ Decisions?

Ljubljana, 4 September - Slovenia is facing a hail of demands from Austria to "abolish" what is called the AVNOJ decisions. Not only by Carinthian Provincial Leader Joerg Haider; efforts to "abolish the real consequences" of the AVNOJ decisions are also written in the programme of the Austrian government coalition. In spite of the promises made by Vienna that this issue will not be used to block Slovenia's EU accession negotiations, it remains clear that it will continue to be widely used in bilateral questions. Austria's aim is the restitution of its citizens with the property seized from them after WW II.
