Review of Events Involving Slovenia in the Week from 2 through 8 September

Ljubljana, 9 September - The AVNOJ decisions and relations with Austria were the focus of attention in Slovene circles throughout the week. A group of eleven opposition deputies signed an interpellation motion against Foreign Minister Lojze Peterle because of his agreement with Austrian Foreign Minister Benita Ferrero-Waldner to discuss the AVNOJ decisions and denationalisation issues linked to it on an expert level. On the other hand Slovene President Milan Kucan replied to comments expressed by Austrian Chancellor Wolfgang Schuessel according to which the latter "never really understood why Slovenia is proclaiming legal succession to the former Yugoslavia".
