Police and Interior Ministry Fight the Problem of Illegal Migrations
Ljubljana, 12 September - Senior officials of the Interior Ministry and the police on Tuesday held a news conference, discussing, among other things, the growing problem of illegal migrations. In the first eight months of 2000, the Slovene police apprehended 18,147 persons who illegally crossed the state border, which is by 36 percent more than in the same period last year. The news conference also touched on the critical situation in the centre for foreigners in Ljubljana, which originates in the increased number of illegal immigrants.
