European Parliament Favourably on Slovene EU Membership Preparations
Brussels, 14 September - The European Parliament Committee for Foreign Affairs on Thursday welcomed the fact that since 1998 Slovenia has managed to speed up the process of harmonisation of its legislation with the acquis. However, Slovenia was warned that additional improvements in the public administration are still needed in order for the acquis to be implemented effectively. MEPs also pointed out the need for carrying out a pension reform and privatisation of insurance companies.
