Slovene Democrats Advocate Search for Broader Consensus in Slovene Politics

Ljubljana, 15 September - The Slovene politics has been since 1992 occupied mainly with EU accession, while it has neglected the development and Slovenia's national interests. Slovenia's haste in joining the EU has caused a number of problems that could be avoided with a more deliberated, but slower policy of seeking consensus. EU accession is not a goal for Slovenia, but it could be one of the tools to optimise our own operation, said the Slovene Democrats (DS) at a news conference on Friday. They also believe that Slovenia's accession to the EU should be confirmed in referendum.
