170th Anniversary of the Road Link between Trieste, Ljubljana and Vienna

Trieste, 16 September - The central celebration of the 170th anniversary of the construction of the new road that connected Trieste, Ljubljana and Vienna took place on Saturday at the platform at Obelisk at Opcine near Trieste. Several prominent guests from Italy, Slovenia and Austria attended the celebration, including the mayors of Trieste, Ljubljana and Sezana, Riccardo Illy, Vika Potocnik and Miroslav Klun. Unexpectedly, the governor of the Austrian province of Carinthia, Joerg Haider, who was not officially invited, also turned up at the celebration, which caused mixed reactions in the public.
